Opening Night with Alistair Anderson

Opening Night Party with Alistair Anderson

We are very excited and privileged to welcome Alistair to play as part of the opening party on the Arts Barge. Outstanding local musicians, including the brilliant Stillhouse, will join him to create an eclectic night of music and dance and an opening night to remember!

Alistair has fond memories of playing at the much missed old York Arts Centre in the 80’s and has been extremely generous in contributing his performance to progress the conversion of the barge to a new arts space for York.

As a touring soloist, with no less than 37 tours of the USA, 5 trips to Australia and countless European tours to his credit, Alistair Anderson is internationally acknowledged as the master of the English Concertina and a fine exponent of the Northumbrian Pipes. He delights audiences with traditional music from Northumberland and beyond, as well as his own music, which has grown out of his love of these traditions.

This is a ‘pay what you feel’ event.

Disabled Access
Due to the ‘work in progress’ state of the Arts Barge at this year’s festival, we regret that wheelchair access down to the performance space is not possible.

Through Riverside 2019 we aim to raise interest and funds to return in 2020 with full disabled access lift and toilet facilities.

In the meantime, the gang-planks onto the barge are wide and wheelchair users are very welcome to enjoy the deck area. Our Riverside marquee (24th - 28th July) is free and accessible to all. Accessible toilet facilities in St. George’s Field car park, will be available during all Arts Barge Riverside Festival opening hours.
