Made of Nowhere: Common Ground Theatre

£8.50 / £7.50

Written and performed by David Jarman
Directed by Ruby Clarke

After scraping together his last few pounds, Jarman packs a borrowed tent into an old, torn rucksack and hitches a lift north to the start of an unofficial footpath that runs from coast to coast. As he makes his way from one side of this island to the other, he wrangles with strangers, friends and versions of himself he thought he’d left behind. Journeying across the landscape they all inhabit, he navigates between the past and the present, between new ground and old mistakes, between the forgotten and the found. Inspired by motorways and sweeping moors, this is a solo show about identity, scraping by, and learning how to let go and move on.

A boisterous and captivating blend of poetry, music, story and song. All live. All lived.

Made of Nowhere was developed as part of Sheffield Theatres Making Room Studio Takeover and is produced by Common Ground Theatre in association with Young Thugs.

Common Ground Theatre are based in York. We make original, bold and life-affirming performances for theatre and pop-up spaces.

Tickets available from the Great Yorkshire Fringe website.

If you are unable to afford tickets, please contact hannah@artsbarge.com to apply for a discretionary 50% discount.

Disabled Access
Due to the ‘work in progress’ state of the Arts Barge at this year’s festival, we regret that wheelchair access down to the performance space is not possible.

Through Riverside 2019 we aim to raise interest and funds to return in 2020 with full disabled access lift and toilet facilities.

In the meantime, the gang-planks onto the barge are wide and wheelchair users are very welcome to enjoy the deck area. Our Riverside marquee (24th - 28th July) is free and accessible to all. Accessible toilet facilities in St. George’s Field car park, will be available during all Arts Barge Riverside Festival opening hours.
